Why this combination

Why Duplex 2205 in plates

Yield strength about 450 MPa: roughly twice that of SS 316LPREN about 34–35Excellent resistance to chloride SCCMagnetic; service generally limited to about 280–300 °C

High strength allows thinner plate in tanks and vessels; chemical tankers use duplex plate for cargo tanks for that reason.

Welding procedures control heat input to keep the phase balance.
