Low carbon for weldabilityTop oxidation resistance among standard stainless gradesSigma-phase risk in long service at 650–900 °CStable austenite, tough at low temperatures

Fabricated furnace hardware is cut and welded from plate; SS 310S's low carbon helps weldability while chromium and nickel resist scaling.

Long exposure at intermediate temperatures can form sigma phase and reduce toughness; design and inspection should allow for it.
