ROCKHARD hardness grades
| Nominal class | Typical hardness | Generic class page |
|---|---|---|
| ROCKHARD 400 | ≈ 360 – 440 HBW | AR400 Plates |
| ROCKHARD 450 | ≈ 425 – 475 HBW | AR450 Plates |
| ROCKHARD 500 | ≈ 470 – 540 HBW | AR500 Plates |
Typical applications
- Dump truck bodies and liners
- Excavator buckets and blades
- Chutes, hoppers and skip liners
- Crusher and screen parts
- Conveyor wear strips
- Tipper bodies and container floors
- Bucket shells and side cutters
- Mixer drums and blades
Cutting, bending and welding
Follow the mill's recommendations for minimum bend radius, preheat and welding consumables. Use low-hydrogen fillers, control heat input, and avoid overheating cut edges, which can soften the plate.

Frequently asked questions
Which ROCKHARD grades do you supply?
ROCKHARD 400, ROCKHARD 450, ROCKHARD 500 (nominal hardness classes), in the thicknesses available from the mill.
Are ROCKHARD plates the same as generic AR plates of the same hardness?
They belong to comparable nominal hardness classes, but chemistry, toughness, thickness range and guaranteed properties differ between mills. Compare datasheets rather than assuming equivalence.
Can ROCKHARD plates be cut to size?
Yes. Plates can be supplied cut to size or profile-cut to drawing.
