What is 200 BHN Wear Plate?
Quick answer
- Standard
- Mill specification
- Hardness
- ≈ 200 – 250 HBW
- Product form
- Plates
- Typical uses
- Chute and hopper liners; Conveyor skirt boards
200 BHN plates sit between ordinary structural steel (IS 2062, about 120–160 HBW) and quenched-and-tempered abrasion-resistant plates (400 HBW and above). Their higher carbon and manganese give better resistance to sliding abrasion than mild steel, while they stay easy to cut, bend and weld with conventional workshop practice.
They're widely used for liner plates in chutes, hoppers, bunkers and conveyor skirts in cement, coal, sugar and steel plants, where impact is moderate and cost matters. For heavy impact or severe gouging abrasion, a Q&T 400–500 HBW plate usually gives a much longer life.
Key characteristics
- About 200–250 HBW
- Easy to cut, form and weld
- Economical liner for moderate abrasion
- Indian mill brands: TISCRAL, SAILHARD, UTTAM HARD

Frequently asked questions
Is 200 BHN plate the same as AR400?
No. 200 BHN plates are medium-hardness, as-rolled or normalised steels. AR400 is quenched and tempered to about 360–440 HBW and wears far more slowly under severe abrasion.
What is 200 BHN Wear Plate used for?
Chute and hopper liners, Conveyor skirt boards, Bunker and silo linings, Sugar-mill and coal-handling equipment.
Which documents are supplied with 200 BHN Wear Plate?
EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificate as standard, with 3.2 and third-party inspection on request.
Do you export 200 BHN Wear Plate?
Yes, including to India.
