Sulphuric acid service is where SS 904L's copper, high nickel and 4–5% molybdenum pay off. It handles concentrations and temperatures that would attack conventional stainless quickly.

Impurities such as chlorides and fluorides change the picture sharply, so share the full acid analysis when ordering.

B677 or A312 for SS 904L pipe?

Both cover N08904. B677 is the nickel-alloy route often specified for seamless pipe; A312 is the stainless route.

Can SS 904L pipe handle seawater?

It resists better than SS 316L, but super duplex or 6Mo are the usual seawater choices.
