Flue-gas desulphurisation and pulp bleaching both mix chlorides, acids and heat. SS 317L's molybdenum resists the pitting that attacks SS 316L, and its low carbon keeps welds sound.

Weld with over-alloyed filler: the weld metal is often the first place pitting starts in molybdenum grades.
