In short: SS 304 stainless sheet to ASTM A240 is the most widely used stainless flat product, from about 0.3 mm to 6 mm thick, in finishes from 2B to No. 4 and BA. It is used for kitchens, food equipment, cladding, panels and enclosures.

Sheet buyers choose SS 304 for its finish options and forming. 2B is the standard cold-rolled finish; No. 4 brushed and BA bright annealed are used where appearance matters. Standard sizes include 1,219 × 2,438 mm (4 × 8 ft) and 1,250 × 2,500 mm.

For outdoor coastal architecture or chloride exposure, SS 316 sheet holds its appearance better. For deep drawing, ask about drawing-quality SS 304.

What does 2B finish mean on SS 304 sheet?

2B is cold-rolled, annealed, pickled and lightly skin-passed: a smooth, moderately reflective finish that is the default for most sheet.
