Why this combination

Why SS 304L in bars

Carbon limited to 0.030% for weld-zone corrosion resistanceCommonly dual-certified SS 304/304LSame formability and cryogenic toughness as 304Slightly lower strength than SS 304

Bar becomes weld-neck stubs, bosses, fittings and parts that are welded to SS 304L pipe. Matching the low carbon avoids a sensitised zone at the joint.

If the part is only machined and bolted, 304 bar is equally suitable and often more readily available.
