SS 310S Stainless Steel Pipes
In short: SS 310S pipe to ASTM A312 TP310S is a 25% chromium, 20% nickel heat-resisting stainless pipe for furnace, kiln and hot-gas lines where oxidation, not corrosion, is the main threat.

Why this combination
Why SS 310S pipe goes where the heat is
High chromium and nickel give SS 310S strong oxidation resistance in air, so it is used for furnace ducts, burner pipework, radiant tubes and hot process-gas lines. The S version keeps carbon low for welding.
It is not a creep-strength grade for high-pressure service and it is less suited to sulphur-bearing reducing gases. For pressure parts in the creep range, 310H or alloy 800H are specified.

Questions
About SS 310S pipes
What temperature can SS 310S pipe take?
It resists oxidation in air to high temperatures, commonly quoted around 1,000–1,100 °C for continuous service; actual limits depend on atmosphere and load.
SS 310S or SS 309S pipe?
SS 310S has more nickel and chromium for higher temperatures; SS 309S is a lower-cost option for moderate heat.
