Lean alloy (21Cr-11Ni) with Si, N and CeExcellent oxidation resistance to about 1,100 °CCreep strength higher than SS 310S at many temperaturesResists spalling under thermal cycling

Hot-air and flue-gas lines scale quickly in ordinary stainless. 253 MA's silicon, nitrogen and cerium build a tight oxide that resists scaling, often at lower cost than higher-nickel grades.

Avoid reducing, sulphur-bearing atmospheres; share the gas composition when ordering.
